These 2 pieces are my illustrations for the first Designers of Asia collective group show in Kyoto.

It plays on name of the famous Chinese tale ‘Journey To The West’ – flipping around the directions because it symbolizes my own personal journey back to the east, from UK to Asia. The series consists of 2 parts, Journey To The East | Part 1: The Turtle Mountain Pass, showing a boy standing on the top of a mountain looking down the treacherous path ahead…Journey To The East | Part 2: Waiting in Kyoto, shows a princess or spirit of an Usagi, surrounded by temples – a symbol of Kyoto – waiting for the boy to arrive.

Little Escher’s Train Set Paradox | If Escher had a train set .. maybe it would look something like this ? maybe…!?

I was invited to contribute a Character and to design a ‘creative pillar’ for the Character Walk. I wanted to make full use of the shape of the pillar, approaching the design in a more creative way.

“…The pillar is transformed in to a tree and we can see a young boy tip-toeing around the tree trying to surprise the little girl. The little girl however has already notice the boy and she slowly follows him around, about to surprise him instead. This is the story of ‘The Failed Surprise’…”

I was given the task to illustrate the Zodiac of the Horse. Inspired by both Eastern and Western mythology- the Archer / Horse Sign – Sagittarius – chinese paintings and scenery. Brave and passionate, running wild and free, the horses of Mount Ma live day by day. The Horse God of Mount Ma stands tall, he protects and watches over his children, preventing intruders from trying to steal these beautiful beasts…

‘Facebook Island’ was created for the Singapore Facebook Office Opening Reception. I was one of 6 artists chosen for this grand event, creating a massive A0 sized illustration based on a ‘Facebook’ fact. The success of this event meant the artworks will be adorning many more Facebook Offices around the world – not just as artwork, but as T-shirts, Tote bags and other merchandise for friends and clients.
