Project: ‘Eye Candy Festival

Brothers of the Stripe – back in Birmingham! For a 2 day residency as part of Eye Candy Birmingham. The theme of our show was 2×2, and Yellow and Black was the colour of choice – covering an array of cardboard boxes, creating an interactive installation, which flowed and changed with a life of its own.

We also produced a 2×2 Postcard Book to go along with our show – following the 2×2 . Black and Yellow theme. 8 x Illustrators – 8 x Postcards.

‘Eye Candy Festival took place during October 2012 in Birmingham’s Southside, showcasing illustration, street art & design through an exciting program of talks & workshops.

Exhibition: B.O.T.S | Tea Time
Product: Pork Chop T-shirt

This T-shirt design was created for the ‘Brothers of the Stripe‘ exhibition – Tea Time | Manchester. Soup Kitchen. I decided to create a body of work which was based on this topic of food, focusing on the idea of consumption – meat and animals – This in turn developed in to something called the ‘Pork Pirates’ (or Pork Pie-rates)…Using my isometric style, this poor little isometric ‘Pork Chop’ pig was dissected and now available for purchase.

Collective: Brothers of the Stripe
Project: Tea Time exhibition

A collection of work created for the Brothers of the Stripe exhibition – Tea Time | Manchester. Soup Kitchen (an exhibition exploring the concept of Tea Time through a variety of illustrative styles and techniques). I decided to create a body of work which was based on this topic of food, focusing on the idea of consumption – meat and animals – This in turn developed in to something called the ‘Pork Pirates’ (or Pork Pie-rates) …and due to my macbook passing away half-way through the project, it forced me or allowed me to experiment with a more diverse range of mediums – including stencils and spray paints and photography – which is the resulting A5 print packs – each print digitally printed with added hand finished details.

Happy Halloween! – this has been in my sketch book for 2 Halloweens’ and now finally I’ve had time to vector him up…

“..Captain Duckula the Third, carried by his trusty ‘Bone-bird’ Tweety, rides down from his castle on the ‘Cursed Mountains’ every full moon. He picks up his offerings, 2 raven haired virgins and a pair of the newest sneakers.. He enjoys long strolls with his bird and sticking his tongue out whilst riding, similar to that of a dog..carefree.. but he’s short-sighted so don’t cross his path..Also has dreams of becoming a pirate one day..”

The story of Giant Bird & Little Bunny – ‘Tori Atama to Usagi Chan’ – a short adventure at sea. The water barely covers Giant Bird’s ankles, as he wades through the sea with his head in the clouds. Little bunny plays and sleeps – carefree in the protect on her giant friend…

These 2 pieces are my illustrations for the first Designers of Asia collective group show in Kyoto.

It plays on name of the famous Chinese tale ‘Journey To The West’ – flipping around the directions because it symbolizes my own personal journey back to the east, from UK to Asia. The series consists of 2 parts, Journey To The East | Part 1: The Turtle Mountain Pass, showing a boy standing on the top of a mountain looking down the treacherous path ahead…Journey To The East | Part 2: Waiting in Kyoto, shows a princess or spirit of an Usagi, surrounded by temples – a symbol of Kyoto – waiting for the boy to arrive.
